The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner Robot vacuums take pet hair, lint, and dust from the floor before they can settle. They also help avoid obstacles like stairs and other obstructions such as furniture that is tippy. Most robotic vacuums require maintenance, like emptying (and occasionally rinsing) the bin and wiping sensors and cameras. Additionally, they must be plugged into an electrical source. A lot of them have apps for smartphones to schedule, adjust settings and more. iRobot Roomba 980 The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent of a series of top-of the-line robot vacuum s, is a staple for every modern home. This model is extremely powerful suction and an HEPA filter that'll aid anyone who is concerned about allergies. It also has an extremely powerful battery that can clean for two hours and returns to its dock automatically when the bin is full. It also comes with the feature of smart mapping, which makes use of multiple sensors to suss out the areas in your home that require attention and make a tidy route around them. This technology is extremely effective at navigating around toys left on the floor or furniture legs that are sticking out from under things. Roomba also has a sensor that snaps Roomba to its real-world location if it starts to move away from its initial location. iRobot has also added a new set of rollers underneath the bottom of the Roomba that do not have bristles, and thus tend to be more resistant to tangles than the previous models. The rollers are also larger and can fit under low couches or beds. They're specifically designed to make this model more maneuverable on different kinds of floors. The Roomba 980 stands out from other models with a high-end price tag due to its latest dirt detection feature that makes use of cameras to detect dirt embedded. This is a significant improvement over the previous model, which relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage method to bounce around a room and clean at least three times from different angles. In our tests of its performance it was found that the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. Its score on the low pile carpet was impressive, and it also scored a good score on mid pile too. It was successful in getting rid of pet hair, but struggled with thick and long pet hair that was stuck together. The Roomba 980 is still one of the best performing robots in our list, despite these minor limitations. It's also not as expensive as other top-of-the-line models. It has many of the features we would expect from a top model but does not have all the fancy apps or home integrations you'll get from other top contenders. The iRobot Roomba can be set up in a matter of minutes and is ready to use right away. After taking off the yellow bin insert and battery pull tab from the undercarriage, it is simply connected to the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, click the Clean button and let it job. It will return to its dock when it runs out of battery or is full of sand. There are also indicator lights at the top of the bin that let you know when its bin is empty, or when it needs to recharge, or if it loses Wi-Fi.
